What Actually Happens When You Install This Thing

The avengers titan hulk project is a total conversion mod for Garry's Mod that replaces the standard Hulk model with a significantly larger, more heavily armored variant inspired by the comic version of the character. It's not an official Marvel product and it's not tied to any particular game outside of GMod. People find it because they want a boss-tier Hulk in Sandbox mode, and that's exactly what it delivers.

Where People Usually Mess Up the Installation

The most common problem I see is folder misplacement. Download the addon, unzip it, and then paste the entire contents directly into your garrysmod/addons folder. Not addons/subfolder, not addons/something_else/subfolder. Right inside addons. When I first installed this, I ended up with a non-functional NPC because I had double-nested the folder. The game couldn't find the shader paths, which meant the model appeared as a purple-and-black checkerboard placeholder. Once I moved everything one level up, it loaded correctly. Another issue that pops up regularly is version incompatibility. This mod targets GMod 13 with Lua 5.2. If you're running an older build or a server with certain addons that override entity base classes, the Hulk NPC will spawn but do absolutely nothing when you try to command it. Check that your server doesn't have any conflicting NPC addons loaded, especially other Hulk or monster expansions. Disable them and test again.

What Makes This Different From Other Hulk Mods

Most Hulk addons in the GMod Workshop are either cosmetic reskins or small stat tweaks. The titan variant actually changes the entity's damage multiplier, hitbox scaling, and movement speed independently. The model is roughly three times the height of a standard Human Class entity, which means your server needs to account for that in collision calculations. NPCs and physics objects around it get pushed aside more aggressively than they would with a normal-sized Hulk. This can break maps that have narrow corridors designed for player-sized entities. I learned this the hard way when testing on a custom map with tight indoor sections. The Titan Hulk gets stuck on doorframes repeatedly, and the hitbox overflow causes physics props to fly across the map at unreasonable speeds. The attack animations are also notably different. Instead of the standard smash-and-pummel loop found in other mods, this version uses a heavier combo chain with windup frames. The first punch in the sequence has a visible delay of about half a second before impact. It makes the Hulk feel weightier, but it also means AI-controlled versions of this entity perform poorly against fast-moving targets because their aim correction lags behind the actual animation timing. If you're using this on a dedicated server with competitive players, the AI will struggle in open arenas where strafing is viable.

Performance Notes That Matter

This addon is not lightweight. The model alone contains approximately 240,000 triangles with custom material overrides. On a machine with a mid-range GPU from the last five years, expect a frame rate drop of roughly 15 to 25 percent when the Titan Hulk is active on screen. Server memory usage increases by around 80 to 120 MB during gameplay compared to a standard GMod session. If you're hosting for more than eight players, monitor your tick rate closely. I've seen servers drop below 30 ticks when three or more Titan Hulks are spawned simultaneously in close proximity, mainly due to the physics simulation overhead. A practical workaround for the physics issue is to reduce the entity's mass value through the Spawn Menu settings before placing it. Dropping the mass from the default around 800 kg to roughly 400 kg cuts the physics calculations in half and brings the frame pacing back into a stable range without noticeably changing the visual presence. The Hulk still looks and feels large. It just doesn't wreck your framerate as badly when it interacts with environment props.

How to Actually Use It Without Breaking Your Server

Spawn the entity through the Standard tab in the Spawner, under NPCs. Look for the entry labeled Hulk Titan or similar. If you don't see it, verify that the addon is properly registered by checking addons list in the console. You should see a confirmation line when the game loads the entity file. If there's no confirmation, the addon didn't install correctly or another addon is preventing it from registering. Once spawned, you can issue basic movement commands through the right-click menu. Hold and release the action key rather than mashing it. The Titan Hulk has input delay built into its command system, and rapid inputs get queued up awkwardly, causing the entity to stutter or freeze mid-animation. Holding for about a quarter second before releasing gives it enough time to register the next command cleanly.

If you're building a roleplay or boss encounter server, pair this with a simple HP tracking script. The Titan Hulk's health pool is substantially higher than standard NPCs, but without a visible bar or counter, players won't know whether they're making progress. A basic HUD element showing remaining health reduces frustration and keeps the encounter from dragging on indefinitely. I wrote a quick script using the built-in HUD system that displays a bar above the entity's head. It's about 40 lines of Lua and takes maybe ten minutes to set up if you've done any GMod addon work before.

When This Mod Is the Wrong Tool

There are scenarios where this addon won't work for you and you should look elsewhere. If you need a Hulk that integrates with a story campaign or has dialogue and scripted sequences, this mod doesn't include any of that. It's purely a combat entity. If you're trying to use it in a multiplayer mode like Trouble in Terrorist Town or Prop Hunt, the massive hitbox makes it nearly impossible to balance fairly. Some servers block it outright for this reason. And if your hardware is older than roughly 2018, this is going to be a rough experience regardless of optimizations. The triangle count alone will strain integrated graphics solutions. In those cases, consider a standard Hulk NPC reskin instead. It runs at a fraction of the cost and still gives you the green big guy without the performance penalty. The titan version is worth it if you specifically need the scale and the heavier combat feel, but it's not a universal upgrade.

You can find the addon on the Steam Workshop by searching for avengers titan hulk. The current version I'm running is stable with no critical bugs, though the creator hasn't updated it in about a year. If there's a breaking change in a future GMod update, the entity may need manual patching to the new API. Keep a backup of the original files before installing anything new, just in case.
